Hello! My name is Em Dryer.
I am a curious and playful human. On a more tangible level, I am a multimedia creative based in Austin, Texas.
Currently, this manifests in my role as Project Manager at WJHW, inc. My day-to-day role allows me to engage in the design process of specialty entertainment venues across a variety of technical disciplines, including Acoustics, AV, Sound, Structured Cabling, Security, and Theatrical systems.
I am also a graduate of UT Austin's Arts and Entertainment Technologies program, which is where I built the foundation of practical technical knowledge I carry with me now.
With my degree, I picked up advanced technical skills as well as how to manage several long-term projects simultaneously, many of which were collaborative. I have had the opportunity to take amazing classes such as Live Event Engineering, Concert and Event Lighting, and Immersive Art Installations, among several others. Some of my best work from this program can be found here.
Additionally, I worked as an Undergraduate Assistant for upper-division AET courses, including Audio Engineering and Project Management in Spring 2023 as well as In-Field Art Installations for the Fall 2023 semester. This work reinforces my communication and leadership skills, particularly in the context of immersive technologies. I am also taking on sporadic contracts at this time as an Event Technician.
I am blessed to have so many opportunities to grow as an artist, technician, and leader. I feel truly blessed to wake up every day and love what I do. This consistent gratitude drives my work and attitude every single day. While this work keeps me quite busy, I do try to keep time for some extracurricular hobbies. In my free time, I enjoy bouldering, volunteering, and doing yoga. I also enjoy supporting my peers in the local tech arts scene and trying out new restaurants with my friends.
Thanks for checking out my page, I hope you enjoy your time here and have a wonderful day!
Em
