About the Event
Future23 is the first in a series of annual student showcases highlighting student work from the entire School of Design and Creative Technologies. It was the first of its kind for several reasons: it featured work from both the Design and Arts and Entertainment Technologies programs, it had the largest amount of student involvement during the planning phases, and it was in a third-party location: the Thompson Conference Center. The event hosted over 400 members of the SDCT community, including students and faculty, friends, family

My Role and Responsibilities
I wore several "hats" for this event. I was primarily the Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for the class responsible for producing this event. In this role, I led and managed various teams of students working on various elements of the production. The scope of this role included:
- Recruiting, scheduling, and training volunteers
- Creating and organizing graphic design assets for signage and marketing
- Identifying and addressing on-site accessibility concerns
- Communication with the entire AET community to curate a variety of student work
On top of these responsibilities, I was the Lighting Designer. This meant I was responsible for:
- Communication between UT Faculty and A/V vendors
- Addressing, cabling, and troubleshooting all of the lighting fixtures
- Programming lighting looks for the entire event
- Leading student volunteers to assist with set/strike
